Washington Head Coach Takes Responsibility for Leaving Daniels in Game Prior to Significant Harm

Washington Commanders leader Dan Quinn has admitted he bears a portion of the blame for a serious ailment to the squad’s quarterback, Jayden Daniels.

Details of the Harm and Context

Jayden Daniels, who enjoyed one of the greatest rookie campaigns of all time the previous year, sustained a displaced elbow joint in the Sunday defeat to the Seattle Seahawks. Although Daniels throws with his right arm, the injury has left his season in doubt. The injury was serious enough that the television broadcast did not show replays and several players looked away as Daniels was treated by medical staff.

Backlash and Coach’s Response

Quinn came under scrutiny as many believed the rookie should not have been on the field in the first place. The injury occurred in the final period with the Washington trailing 38-7, making a recovery improbable. It is common in these circumstances for clubs to insert their backup quarterback to avoid harm to their first-string player.

“I get that. I’ve been thinking about it nonstop, too, and, wow, I missed it,” he said of his decision to leave Jayden in the game. “This is 100% my fault.”

Aftermath and Team Prospects

Mariota will be the Commanders’ starting quarterback going forward, but he will lead a roster in turmoil. Following making the conference title game last season behind the rookie’s brilliance, the team have faced difficulties currently. They also lost defensive back Marshon Lattimore (torn ACL) and pass-catcher Luke McCaffrey (collarbone fracture) on Sunday, and have a host of other starters on the injury list. The Washington squad are three wins and six losses on the season, and it would require a massive reversal for the team to make the postseason.
