19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts
A comeback the Russian player claimed his first championship for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition final.
The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid season, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.
The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - led to him falling of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.
Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set triumph over challenger Moutet.
This marks his initial title since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court after March of the previous year.
Victory also signifies he has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one different events.
"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters together, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," said ranked player Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I won when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, comprising in that event earlier this year.
His counter-punching approach and frequent outbursts on court had caused some to wonder if his ability to perform at the top level was over.
Yet the athlete has made changes in the past month, striving to approach the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an enhanced service.
He recovered from a break down in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.
Both players traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden professional title, took control to push for a final set.
He defended four early-game chances in a close third set before Medvedev broke to that score to close out the victory.
Appropriately, the winner earned the win with a point at the net area, with Moutet incapable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
